The walk near the almshouses was cordoned off because of a dangerous branch on one the large conifers near the church.

The wind was strong enough to blow over wheelie bins and traffic cones in Abingdon today, and to send clouds speeding across the sky.

One tree possibly blown over by Storm Doris was in the Albert Park. It appeared that the protective cage had blown over pulling down the small tree with it.

Early daffodils were blowing in the wind near the Bowls Club, and twigs had fallen on a lot of the walks on this very windy day.

On the Ock Valley Walk a number of large willow trees were down – not blown down by the wind. They were cut back as part of the management of the area before the storm.

Stunning double rainbow over Abingdon

Thanks to Bernie for some pictures of the ‘stunning double rainbow over Abingdon yesterday evening.’

The snow that wasn’t
There have been forecasts of snow this weekend.

Last night a few snow flakes could be seen falling when you looked at the streetlights. It could have been the first snow of the winter here in Abingdon. But this morning there is not a lot of snow about – just a thin covering on a couple of roofs in West St Helen Street.

Snowdrops are still to be seen near Old Abbey House, along the wall bordering the garden.
Another year has gone by quicker than the last.

Walking beside the River Ock there were some beautiful views as the sun went down behind the mist.

In places the frost was still slippery. Another year has gone by quicker than the last.
I wonder what next year will bring to Abingdon. Will the Upper Reaches Hotel have a future? Will Abingdon get a neighbourhood plan? Will the Guildhall revamp be completed?
It is eleven years since I started an Abingdon Blog. Will I have enough ideas, and get enough items sent in, to keep it current? Should I do a revamp to make it look up to date? Has the granny wallpaper had its day?
