Ten Years of Mostly Books

Market Place at 9:40am today – Mini Ring and Gerontius Amenity Fund

There is a mini-ring of bells on the Market Place this morning.

The Stallpits Mini-Ring, from Shrivenham in Oxfordshire, began touring in 2013 with a ring at the Faringdon Corn Exchange. The bells are in Abingdon today to help promote the Hope within Us events, that begin in a week. Everybody can have a go, and sign the visitors book.

Also on the Market Place was a stall raising money for Christian Aid, and for the Gerontius Amenity Fund – a charity founded in 2012 by people with contacts in Sierra Leone to provide health care for poor people.
Jibber Jabber – talks for parents with young children

Jibber Jabber is a regular social group aimed at parents with young children which aims to provide stimulating talks and discussions. The sessions are relaxed enough that parents can bring their child and feed / change / play with them while the talks are going on. Location Christ Church, Northcourt, Abingdon. Next one Monday 25th January 2016 from 10:00 to 12:00.

Next speaker is Manfred Brod, a local historian specialising in the Thames Valley in the 16th and 17th centuries, whose books include Abingdon in Context, and The Case of Reading.
