On the Ock Valley Walk I met not one but two well known Abingdon people in the space of a minute. Jo Cartmell, of Save Radley Lakes fame, was out looking for wildlife. She explained to me how to recognise a Water Vole by the plopping sound as it went into the water, and other things.

After that we saw Alan Bryden preparing for a guided ramble in a day or two. Alan was County Councillor for North Abingdon until he retired at the last election back in May 2009 but now is getting dragged into leading rambles and things like that – this far south.

One final picture for Heritage Day… Duncan Brown, Deputy Mayor, presented a trophy to Rosemary Green and her Dad Steven for the best entry in the treasure trail quiz on Heritage Day. Steven does the Greenius local pub and beer blog. Heritage Day was a sunny day and people came from far and wide. Rosemary and brother Daniel go to St Nicolas School. The Pathfinders Canoe Club were running a race down the River Ock from Drayton Road. Here you can see two competitors entering the finishing straight.
