Yesterday, Abingdon Vale played Horspath in the Cherwell League. Horspath had just appealed when this picture was taken:

Abingdon Vale went on to win the match. It could have been a different story, if it had been LBW.
Across the river, all is quiet at the Saxton Rovers ground during the summer. The grass has been cut, and lies in light and dark bands. Another few weeks before the touch lines are painted.
There was a good turnout for the fair at Thameside School lastnight. Lots of raffle prizes.
The longest queue was for the ponies.
I helped out on the White Elephant stall. Thats where you sell off unwanted gifts – aka white elephants. My co-worker had the gift of the gab and sold much more than me. Money raised goes to help buy things for the school.
Ever at hand, the school caretaker was doing the BBQ.
The Fair had a pirate theme (but the camera batteries ran out just as I tried to take a picture of the headteacher and children dressed as pirates so you’ll have to imagine that).
When we arrived the artists and guests were leaving. The wine glasses were being put into boxes. What remained was the art, and a few people near the door.
The poster at the entrance said that the word ‘Sublime’ had been given to the students as the starting point for their ideas for the show. They are the Abingdon College first year part-time foundation art students…
The exhibition is on for the next couple of weeks in the college reception area.

Over the last seven weeks I’ve been doing a beginners Kayak course with the Kingfisher Canoe Club, and yesterday we all earned our one star BCU certificate. It was a bit like getting a swimming certificate at school.
Afterwards we, the new fledglings, had a celebration BBQ with the more experienced Kingfishers. Not insects or minnows!!!
The beginners course was great fun. I only wished I had a waterproof camera. We played water polo near the mill, did white watering at Sutton Pools, and navigated through the low hanging trees down swift ditch.
