The day started off cloudy as aircraft purred overhead, heading towards the show at Dalton Barracks.

By about lunchtime the show was busy thanks to the blue sky and sun and another excellent show program. There were lots of stalls and amusements …

Then came the air show with near ideal conditions. The Tristar from Brize Norton was the largest plane to fly by.

A Lancaster from the RAF Coningsby, part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, had top billing.

Another World War II plane was a Hurricane based locally at Wallingford.

The Breitling Wingwalkers returned for a second year. In this manoeuvre the wing walkers got very close to holding hands.

Money raised goes to the Air Ambulance which also did a display. Thanks to Neil and Co for organising another fantastic event.

Thank you for posting this! Had the privilege of working on the Lancaster during a major overhaul she had many years ago at Abingdom. Each time you spoke the word “Lancaster” a fine was paid into the end of job “party” fund She became affectionately known as the “black bomber !”

The Lancaster flew really low over our house. Two children in the garden….”WOW”. They couldn’t believe it!

    Amazing sight.

Are you the owner of this vehicle sir? Archie the owners grandson was able to straighten things with the law during a great day out at the air display. Roger and I have been regular visitors to the event from its modest beginings.

Great photos and a great day out for locals and visitors from further afield.

Previously we’ve watched the planes fly over our garden, but went this year and had a great time. My daughter particularly liked the ferrets and farm animals – catering for those who are not so keen on vehicles. Will be back next year.

I tried to get tickets in town in advance and they’d sold out of adult ones everywhere though which was annoying – so had to pay full price on the gate.

Spent the morning in Abingdon, both of us enjoying a coffee in the sun. Adult tickets sold out, so also paid on the gate.
(next time they promised more would be available).

I also spent a delightful Sunday, enjoying the sunshine (caught a bit too much as well! so bright, even my high factor sunscreen couldn’t cope).

Really enjoyed the Cars/vehicles (such a diverse range from E-types, and Jensons to modern ‘blinged up’ MG ZF Turbo….

Watching the flypast and displays, both had to leave slightly early, was reading at the evening service. so missed the vehicles parade….

Another fantastic LOCAL event. Thank you very much. And well done on organising such great weather – not too hot, not too cold.

And for all the moody people out there…there was miles and miles and acres and acres of free parking!
