Champion House, the large Edwardian House next door to John Mason School, on Wootton Road, has been demolished.
An archaelogical survey says the house was built around 1914 on the site of an orchard that had once been a quarry. More recently the building has been used as offices by Oxfordshire County Council Care Services.
The plan is to turn the area into 24 sheltered apartments with communal facilities including parking.
A previous plan for Champion House was rejected and rejected again on appeal in 2011, but having modified the plans to make more space at the front, and reduce the size of the building, plans were approved in 2012. The town council strongly objected to the original plans, worried by a narrow entrance for traffic near a school, but had “No Strong Views” in 2012.
Not sure where to post this so I’ll try here. Two keys found today (Thurs, 3 Jan) in Albert Park, On a black lanyard with “Apple Ed Store” written on it. One looks like a Yale key. Have left them with Tom, the park warden, at his office.
Maybe it’s full of Ipads?
Craig, thankyou for posting about the keys. They belong to a neighbour of mine who lost them a couple of days ago. She was delighted when I told her about your message. The detail about the lanyard was most helpful as she had an identical spare set that she showed me!
JG – most pleased she will be reunited with them!
I went to see the park keeper today as I have also lost some keys in Albert Park. He told me he has not been given or found any keys this week.
Craig I do hope you gave the ladies keys to the right gentleman.
AbingdonOne – I definitely gave the keys to Tom, the park warden. Suggest you contact him direct in his office.
Yes, I did speak to Tom, directly as I have known him for a few years, since I walk my dog in the park everyday. He hadn’t received any keys at all this week.
I know there is a few contract workers in the park, perhaps you gave one of them the ladies keys?
Right – key conundrum solved. The lost keys about which I posted were picked up today (Mon, 7th) from Tom by a lady called Pat. I presume, JG, that Pat is your friend? AbingdonOne – I know not what keys you were referring to – and anyway, they weren’t yours!
I know full well they were not mine! I was just merely stating that you had clearly given them to the wrong person! in fact mine were handed into the bowls club… much like the ones you handed in.
So please do not take that pathetic tone with me, and learn some manners and perhaps learn to know who is who in this community.
Good day.
AbingdonOne – I think you need to stop being so rude. I clearly didn’t give them to the “wrong” person as they were retrieved from Tom himself by the relevant person. Far from taking a pathetic tone I was trying to be gently humorous and helpful by posting here in the first place. You are rather a sad person aren’t you
Craig, Pat is indeed the lady who had lost the keys. Clearly she was able to locate them based on the info you provided so thank you again.
