At today’s Local Excellence Market in Abingdon there were apples grown just over the border in Abingdon’s old County of Berkshire.
Cheese made in Abingdon’s new County of Oxfordshire.
Bread and Patisserie baked on East Saint Helen Street, Abingdon-on-Thames.
Fabulous Flowers prepared on Bridge Street, Abingdon-on-Thames.
Additional attractions included folk music, rescue owls and sunshine from heaven above.
It was a great way to start the weekend – sitting in the sunshine in the market place listening to the band playing jigs & reels (sorry can’t remember their name), eating a locally made croissant; buying some locally grown fruit and veg and a couple of bottles from the Appleford brewery!
I agree. It is truely wonderful to see Abingdon centre thronging and thriving at the weekends and it was great to be part of it and enjoy the town in this way. This should happen every weekend… does anyone know why we DON’T have a weekly weekend market? We deserve to, don’t we?
