Sign at Number 17 West St Helen Street

The sign on the door is a planning application for a proposed change of usage, and the blue door was until recently Frugal Food.

It could be about to become a tea room.

Was it not 'Waterline' – an outdoor sports kind of place. Got my first riding hat there. (Of course I could be wrong, I could be thinking of two doors up or something!).

Thanks for the reminder of Frageos. My son, nearly 17, loved going there when he was a toddler!
But can anyone remember what it was before Frageos??

Although there seem to be lots of coffee houses in Abingdon, a really nice old-fashioned tea-shop would be great, especially in a building with so much character. It should also encourage more people to spend time in West/East st Helen Streets. Those of us with longer memories still regret the passing of Frageos about 15(?) years ago – it used to provide a wonderful friendly meeting place, so much nicer than the mass-produced sterile environments of some other places..
