Local permits now available

Fishing Season
People won’t have to go quite so far for a fishing permit. During the close season anglers might have had to go to Didcot to get a fishing permit to fish an ex gravel pit in South Abingdon.

From 16 June residents permits and season tickets for the 2011/2012 fishing season are available for river fishing from Abingdon Town Council.

Hi, the sign and fishing rights of that spot belong to Sutton Courtenay Angling Club and the town residents permit / day tickets from the town council won’t cover you to fish there unless they can issus SCAC permits as well now.

The other important thing to remember is you also need a rod license available on-line through the EA.

Though the levels look really simple, they are actually quite challenging.
Caution: when a hole is made in a can, there may be metallic edges that can cut one’s mouth. Moreover, there you could also play Scrabble in the internet, TV game shows or game consoles.

I have permission from the owners of the mill estate why own the islands on the Thames river in Sutton to do crayfishing, I am licenced by the EA for 100 traps. Now I have heard (not to make accusations) that someone, possibly an club official or member has removed some of my traps, firstly these traps are my livelihood, second I own them and am licenced, thirdly it is an offence to interfere with a licenced crayfish traps, forth I am helping you to get rid of the invasive signal crayfish from the river which destroys the gravel bed where our native fish need for feeding and breeding, and I’m sure each and every member has had there bait eaten or you have pulled them out of the water hanging on to your bait.
If what I have heard is incorrect I apologise, and ask any members to be vigilant when fishing for thieves, and if you have any signal crayfish hot spots let me know and I will drop traps there. I do tend the traps daily.
Thank you for putting up with my rant but these traps are not cheap. Happy fishing
