South Abingdon developments in November

The new hotel by Tesco is two stories high, with two more to come. There is a Community Board on the hoardings to inform people about the progress.

October included a complete steel frame and reinforced concrete floor. Install crane and commence external scaffolding. November has external wall construction and windows. Begin internal wall construction with services.

Meanwhile, by Hartwells on Drayton Road, the new 3-story building is well underway. It will contain 4 one bedroom and two 2 bedroom apartments with 7 car parking spaces

The development at the old ferry boat house has begun.

We’ll soon have as many hotels as barbers. Meanwhile, there remains the wreck by the bridge – not to mention the bridge…

Believe it or not it is difficult to book people into rooms in the hotels in Abingdon sometimes. Very often the Premier Inn is full so it indeed this new hotel is a new Premier Inn it will be most welcome.

While on subject of South Abingdon issues, any news on when the poor Abbot statue on the Tesco roundabout is going to be un-faceplanted? The decent folk of this town used to dress him up for Christmas, now he’s just lying there with his face full of weeds!
