Planning the future of Abingdon – online consultation

The Neighbourhood Plan team have an online consultation. They have set up a dedicated website www.abingdon-neighbourhood-plan.org that will be available until Friday 4th March 2022. You can read all the information, watch the videos, and then submit a comment for each category: green spaces, local areas, and the town centre.

The final plan will contain a wider range of topics, including housing design, heritage, access and movement, and sports and recreation.

So green space No.1 is a triangular strip off Dunmore Road and is recommended for protection from development. Isin’t this where Aldi is being built?

I thought so! I’m not against the Aldi development by the way but makes you wonder what this “plan” is actually aiming to achieve and what force there is behind it

Has anyone else actually investigated this vacuous document? I was going to respond but I don’t know where to start. Why not ask people who actually know the area and the issues it faces to produce this stuff.

All the proposal in the document have come from the local residents who have been involved with the Neighbourhood Plan process.

This, in turn, was based on extensive work by a large number of local people going out and identifying issues in their own neighbourhoods – https://www.abingdon-neighbourhood-plan.org/place-results

This consultation now gives you the opportunity to say what you do and don’t agree with.

Personally, while I don’t agree with all of it, I think it is full of good ideas overall.

I am finding it hard to make any systematic comments on the Abingdon neighbourhood plan. The plan website seems to focus on sending a postcard rather than serious comments and I am not sure how to add anything to the map (PLACE). Is there a website for making serious comments in a logical way?
