Last year we bought reusable cups so that we could stop the growth of the the single-use coffee-cup mountain. This year the mountain of coffee cups is growing higher again.
During lockdown the coffee shops are only allowed to serve takeaways and that has increased the quantity of single-use cups.
Reusable cups are bulky and easily forgotten and we don’t always have them with us at the moment we visit: Coffee Aroma, Costa I, Costa II, Java, R&R, or Throwing Buns in Abingdon.
That is a sad sight. I am more of a thermos guy when it comes to enjoying coffee on a hike.
Me too! What ever happened to the good old fashioned thermos flask? My parents never felt the need to carry a coffee soother around with them when out. How times have changed and not for the better.
Recyclable or fully compostable single use hot drink cups are widely available. There is no need to use ‘bad’ ones anymore.
I wonder who, at the council, wasn’t on their toes to think about maybe the bins will need more regular seeing to? Time they woke up and errr smell the coffee….
If people crushed their cardboard cup, then the bins would be able to carry more….
Not sure if one is allowed to hand over a reusable cup at the moment. Presumably there is a possibility that the virus would then pass to the server.
NO MATTER WHERE I GO I TAKE MY RUBBISH HOME..SMALL PRICE TO PAY…I DO NOT VISIT ANY COFFEE SHOPS SO I WOULD NEVER HAVE THIS KIND OF RUBBISH TO CONTEND WITH!
