Who tarmaced the new pavement
Between the Co-op funeral service and the Grapes pub the new pavement, laid about nine months ago, has been taken up by a contractor, doing some sort of repair, but not put back like it was before.

Worth mentioning that the paving slabs in front of the poor patch job are loose – you can see them at the bottom of your photo, dangerous if you don’t notice them while walking.

How are companies allowed to get away with that? It is dangerous, and makes the street look terrible. Most of the streets look like a patchwork quilt these days!

And was it flooded there this morning !! I guess the old paving has been left in the drain. Terrible workmanship.

I thought that those were the nice expensive yorkstone slabs that we paid to have put down. If they are on a patio it would be quite attractive, grey concrete slabs less so. Perhaps they would be more useful under a shed.

I assume that people have to get Council permission to dig up the pavement and would hope that those who’ve left this pavement in such a state will not get any further council permission to do work in Abingdon until they’ve put this mess right (at their own cost)

It was one of the main utility companies not sure whether gas, electric or water same difference really they arrive to do job and leave the pavement in a disgusting and dangerous state for pedestrians just patching and running and the poor old workmen who left a good job in the first place get slagged off for it.

I have reported it to OCC. Much as I dislike these new slabs as they show every mark and gum blob, at the very least they should match! I had hoped it was temporary, and I can’t believe the cheek of them leaving it like this. It’s not exactly subtle!!
