Sunday Sunshine

Sunshine
The bank holiday weekend continued on Sunday with more sunshine at Abingdon-on-Thames.

The Kings Head & Bell has been closed for refurbishment. It is a very old building and seems to need a lot of maintenance.

Other pubs were open and attracting visitors. The Nags Head had jazz and the Crown and Thistle had something much louder to entertain people who do not need to go to work on Monday.
Sunshine
There was an important ashes cricket match happening. In the past we could have watched matches like that on BBC or ITV  but, never mind, it was a lovely day and we could watch the highlights.
Sunshine
The sun was dazzling and it was a lovely day.

It was a lovely weekend but a bit too hot to be outside all the time. Unfortunately even those pubs which did have Sports TV preferred to show boring Premier League football, but heigh ho it was nice to have a Bank Holiday when it wasn’t raining.

I’m afraid the charms of Abingdon are far outweighed by the almost constant noise of anti-social driving ie backfiring exhausts, bikes & cars racing around, quad bikes, souped up engines revving unnecessarily at junctions, blighting almost every area. This Bank Holiday has been the last straw for me. I shall no longer be spending any Bank Holidays in Abingdon.

That’s a shame Helen – but I am not sure that it is “almost every area” – it has been very peaceful here (just off Oxford Road, Vineyard end) even with all the windows open. I think the motorbikes were probably the ones on the racetrack over the river by Culham – we used to hear them when we lived on Peachcroft.

You clearly think it’s going to different anywhere else then Helen. Well I’m afraid you’re going to be in for a shock then because it isn’t !
