Andrew Rowe did a tweet yesterday that made me think. …
At Added Ingredients in Abingdon you can bring your old containers (so long as you know how much they contain) to the refill stations, and refill and re-label the container. Products shown are:
* Non-bio Laundry liquid
* Fabric conditioner
* Washing-up liquid
The detergents are supplied by Sesi – a social enterprise in Oxford, who deliver the tubs to the shop and collect the empty tubs to reuse them.
They were introduced after the Abingdon Cuts Plastic campaign launched in March 2018 with the help of Abingdon Carbon Cutters.
Other ideas for cutting down on packaging in the new year which I ought to be doing:
* Buy loose fruit and veg where possible
* Think ahead and take my own cutlery, water bottle, shopping bag, or coffee cup.
You may have other useful suggestions.
I have been using all three of these for a while and they are great – I can honestly say I don’t miss my old brands at all.
I thought they said they were introducing a surface cleaner or floor cleaner and a toilet cleaner, but I havent checked, does anyone know?
Off topic but anyone noticed this https://www.heraldseries.co.uk/news/17360966.abingdon-flood-scheme-abandoned-as-estimated-cost-doubles/ so effectively Oxford will get its flood alleviation scheme eventually but we only have a small part of ours perhaps increasing the chances of higher river levels here following heavy and prolonged rainfall.
Badger, it is all part of the nefarious reason to accept the reservoir at Stevenson. Part of the ‘pluses’ for that bitter pill (or suppository as is more accurate for Abingdon) is Thames Water will pay for the flood alleviation, so I heard….
Whilst we did have flooding before BREXIT, it will be much worse afterwards (if it happens).
Daniel – I guess one upside is it’ll mean more water for ‘the flowers’. More seriously though, yes indeed it does rather fit in with the plans for the large water feature west of here, looked at sarcastically it could indeed be pitched as a plus of having it sited there.
…and as ever there’s never a better time to be a consultant. Loads of stuff to consult on but no money to fund the findings.
Rejoice peeps comrade Corbyn has lost his motion of no confidence in her majesty’s government ! The known I R A sympathiser, friend if Hezboler and a person whose been under Mi6 surveillance for over 30 years, the man who refused to accept the Salisbury poisoning was carried out by Russia, friend of Assad and all the South American despots has Been kicked into the long grass, the biggest loser being the Labour Party in that if they had a creditable leader ( Hilary Benn?) they could well be the new ruling party ?
Getting back on topic, the range has extended to include toilet cleaner, surface cleaner and hand soap. Will continue to be expanded if there is a demand.
