There seemed to be more rides this year – than last year – at the runaway fair.
The weather has been good. So hopefully the show people and the punters had a good afternoon and evening.
With the road closure, it is funny seeing buses unload their passengers at strange places like the Kings Head and Bell. And it’s funny to see the upper deck of double deckers sail by our 1st floor window.
It only happens when
She comes again.
Our little runaway,
run, run, run, runaway.

Who’s Spending Britain’s Billions?
‘… he focuses on how local authorities pay management consultants large sums for ‘operating model assessments’ and ‘transformation programmes’ with the firms often taking a percentage of savings they find. It’s not a pretty picture,’
‘… Jacques Peretti reveals how local councils trying to cut costs are using consultancy firms who can take a percentage of any savings they help make. He also explains how these contracts are covered by confidential deals, about which very little detail is known …’

Just the sort of programme which might help explain why every effort and channel should be used to encourage people to prise open the secrecy surrounding local government.
Newcomer, please; don’t distract us from the pretty flowers.
Did someone mention flowers
What have flowers got to do with the fair?!
What have management consultants to do with the fair?
The fair takes place in Abingdon – a pretty town in Oxfordshire that is being plundered by consultants and ill decision. Despite this the fair is nice. As are the flowers.
They are both great distractions. Oooo…look at the bright lights and pretty flowers…
People stumble out of the bus, into the pub, and remain there until the next diversion which brings buses back there again, possibly a year later…. spooky….
Thank gawd the market is back next Monday. I am anxious to get my hands on some spring bulbs to plant before the weather gets too cold and wet.
Janet – your flowers will look lovely
I drove through town Monday evening on my way home and found it had … runaway ……. not a sign, nothing. They do a good job of disappearing quickly.
The town disappeared??? That is pure negligence on behalf of the Town Council and the Vale! Someone needs to keep watch to stop it running away again.
Careful what you say Julian; if such an idea were to save a few quid…who knows….
