Les Badcock led out the Mr Hemmings Traditional Abingdon Morris Dancers on their day of dance today. This is always held on a nearest Saturday to the birthday of former Abingdon Morris dancing legend Tom Hemmings who kept the Abingdon Tradition alive in the mid 19th century.
Teams included Summertown Morris, a women’s side from Oxford.
Ashnah, American Tribal Style Belly Dancers from Abingdon on Thames.
Morris Dancers from Adderbury Village, just south of Banbury;
Borderline from Arborfield, south of Reading,
and Windsor Morris – a female side dancing in the very bouncy style of the nineteenth century Cotswold villages of Badby and Brackley.
Near the Market Place were also members of the Britain Stronger In Europe campaign. There could well be a lot of In Out In Out campaigning in the weeks to come.
So… we have seen the In campaign
I am sure the Out campaign were there (or will be soon)
Does this mean the Ashnah Belly Dancers were the “shake it all about” campaign?
Campaign in Abingdon started with out.
So many good things bringing people into our fair town and not a one of them anything to do with the BID. Does anyone remember the BID? Apparently it’s all getting started in April ….. no, wait, hang on a bit. Isn’t it May already and still no update on their website?
Perhaps the BID is now BuD (Bring us Dahlias) at least the flowers will be nice eh Daniel?
Have the businesses in town started paying into BID yet? Difficult for them to do much without funding.
As I understand it the BID didn’t legally come into existence till 1 April and payments were due to start coming in from then. I believe they have now appointed a manager i.e someone to do the work – all the others on the BID team are of course volunteers, doing it alongside running their own businesses. Presumably managing the website will be one of his/her duties – but I guess that their priority will be to get some of the promised projects under way – telling us about them may come later!
Oh well, I guess it’s good to hear they haven’t all done a runner. But seriously, too busy to update the website since the vote, too busy to use Twitter since December? Doesn’t bode well for getting anything else done.
Badger; I have every confidence, that no matter what… In, out, budding BIDs and all the Veiled shenanigans…. The one thing I am sure of, is everything Abingdon will be OK as the flowers will be lovely this year – as they have been so far.
I would like to get up to speed with BID, Google gives different definitions, including ‘Batchelor of Industrial Design’ and ‘Bail for Immigration Detainees’. Which are we talking about here?
I think you may find the Abingdon BID is
Buried In Deceit.
Not ‘Better In Didcot’?
