The Church in Abingdon, Christian Aid New Year walk began this morning at 10 am from Abingdon Baptist Church/35 Ock Street. There were about 60 participants.
The route was to include the Sustrans Path towards Radley, Radley Lakes, Radley College and Lodge Hill with a refreshment stop at Radley Church Hall. The first 2 pictures shows participants leaving Abingdon Baptist Church.
The next 2 pictures shows participants passing Abingdon County Hall.
A guide and map of the walk was available at the start for £1. People started together but could make their own way round, at their own pace. Many participants had raised sponsorship towards the Christian Aid Christmas appeal, others just made a donation.
Sorry to intrude on this thread but just been into Old Station House to visit my 94 year old Aunt and spotted on the door a letter from OCC stating repairs to the Stert street culvert will begin on Jan 4th ! It’s due to last 8 weeks, only the pavements will be dug up as new, reinforced manholes have already been installed, looks like we can at last see the back of that dreadful barrier ?
Thanks CK2. That will give me something to write about tomorrow.
How wonderful. The horrid, silvery grey, dirty and unsightly barrier at one of the ‘gateways’ to the town will finally go. On the other side of the road however….
Meanwhile…I think the boundary walk is a proud Abingdon tradition – as is this blog.
