The northern end of Stert Street, from the junction with Stratton Way to Broad Street, was closed overnight because of a partially collapsed manhole cover that needed replacing.
Meanwhile there is a lot of water at the southern end of Stert Street from a leaking water main.
The other roadworks, the Culvert exploratory work, is nearly complete, and the contractors are just repairing the holes.
As I said, the offerings to St. Ert, patron saint of collapsed manholes and mysterious leaks were not performed in a timely enough manner.
We may need to propitiate the gods. I’ll get the wicker if you can find the virgin policeman.
… and perhaps some of Daniel’s spells?
Seriously though, I hope we don’t get a hard frost tonight. The surfaces would be lethal.
Don’t worry Hester, I made a spell that basically said; ” what with the run up to an election please can all the small, run-of-the-mill type things be looked at and rectified so that the great unwashed electorate forget about the inadequacies of the last few years”.
All being well, we will get some I’s dotted and t’s crossed in the next few months so we can consider how great everything is….whilst we sit in the Drayton Rd traffic, watching Taylor Wimpey build their new houses, whilst we attend done deal meetings about 1000 houses built on fields, whilst in the NEXT 4 years we MAY get a full lodge hil interchange….whilst the A34 still doesn’t signpost our Historic Market tiwn (but does signpost Millets and Tesco).
Hester and Daniel, you really should stop harping on and drawing peoples’ attention to every little thing that isn’t absolutely perfect. There’s no point carping about reality as it’s just there and nothing and nobody can do anything about it. Just keep reading the party political pamphlets and press releases and you’ll be convinced that we are on the cusp of great social, infrastructure and quality of life changes for the better engineered by our political masters and betters. Just Believe! Stop trying to dampen-down the unconfined joy of us, the truly brain-washed..
Meanwhile on reality street. As of Monday, the water continues to gush out – Two water leaks now in Stert Street! The repaired manhole once more sinks towards the culvert and a second deep excavation appears outside the Nationwide.
This is still gushing water everywhere!!
If I slide off my Scooter on frozen water, can I blame the water company? It’s a bloody deathtrap for two wheels….
