Return of Model Railway Show – Morland’s Row Barge still showing

The 2022 Model Railway Show is on this Saturday. The event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 and returns in 2022. All the details can be found at https://admrc.org.uk/exhibitions/abingdon-exhibition-2022

There are two more weeks to visit the Morland’s exhibition at the Abingdon Museum (up to 27th March). It includes THE OLD ROW BARGE sign from the Vineyard in Abingdon.

Wallingford also had an inn called THE ROW BARGE.

Henley still has an inn called the ROW BARGE.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has a Row Barge that was well used during the flotilla during the Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

Jubilee Excellence Market

The team who organise the Local Excellence Market have been invited to take part in a large event at Abingdon Airfield on 4th June. The event will be a lot more than a market. See https://www.abingdoneventspartnership.co.uk/jubilee-market.

The Town Council are also planning events to celebrate the Queen’s 70th anniversary from Wednesday 1 June to Sunday 5 June 2022 at Rye Farm Meadows in Abingdon.

I don’t know yet when they have the bun throwing.

Quiz night and Car Sharing

There is a quiz night at the Crown and Thistle raising fund for the Abingdon DAMASCUS youth project and Yellow Submarine.

Next Saturday at the Local Excellence Market there is a stall wanting ideas to help make Abingdon a Greener Town. They are initially looking at Active Travel and Sustainable Transport. Car sharing in the town centre would be an interesting initiative.

Later on in the year they will be looking at biodiversity, reducing consumption, and reducing carbon.
