Town Crier magazine (Winter 2020 – 60th Edition) and town notice boards

Congratulations to the Town Crier magazine on reaching their 60th Edition. It dropped onto our doormat three days ago and has some interesting local news, and a very short What’s on section saying ‘ depending on government guidelines events may differ from those normally taking place at this time of year. You are advised to check the Abingdon Town Council website for the latest information on events.’

Spring Road Cemetery now has sheep grazing and they look to be an interesting and inquisitive breed.

The magazine also has three pages dedicated to organizations that are helping during the Pandemic:
* Vale of White Horse Community Hub (01235 422600)
* Abingdon Coronavirus Community Response
* AbiMeds
* Abingdon Community Fridge
* Abingdon Food Bank
* Abingdon Good Neighbour Scheme
* Citizens Advice Abingdon
* Oxfordshire Mind
* Age UK Oxfordshire
* The Abingdon Bridge
* Oxfordshire Domestic Abuse Services

The Town Council has erected two new notice boards, one in front of their Roysse Court Offices

and the other, with two sides, on Bath Street.

Adventures in Eggland

Eggbert
I saw Paul Gustafson in town today. His free children’s reading book Eggberts Adventures Delivering the Mail is available on the Royal Mail’s educational site Teacher’s post.

There are also activities to download on the revamped eggbertsadventures.com website. Paul hopes they will be useful during the summer holidays.

Paul is well know in Abingdon as a teacher (known as Mr G), campaigner, angler, and environmentalist. He brought the World Egg and Spoon Championship to Abingdon in 2017.

Here is a short extract of Paul reading Eggbert’s Adventures … .

Abingdon Town Magazine

Abingdon Town Magazine
Edition One of Abingdon Town Magazine popped through the letter box of every home in Abingdon a few weeks ago. It is a wonderful magazine for local stories and content. A lot of magazines and local newspapers have some local content but are filled out with more general information. Abingdon Town Magazine is all about Abingdon.
Abingdon Town Magazine
There was a visit for a meal to the Limoncello restaurant.
Abingdon Town Magazine
There was an article about authentic Polish food on our doorstep, with four polish recipes from Polski Sklep Żubr, and an article about Aunt Sally, the local pub stick and skittle game.
Abingdon Town Magazine
There was an interview with John North of Masons, and My Abingdon by Matt Heritage of the Brewery Tap. And lots more.

I look forward to the next edition.
