The first of the month is Theme Day for City Daily Photo bloggers. This is when somebody sets an assignment for the others. April 1st is One Colour. Having forgotten to go out specifically with this theme in mind I looked back at the pictures from last month and chose one of water cascading from the River Thames over the weir into Swift Ditch. It has a little brown but hardly any colour really. This is also not the 1st April any more, and Abingdon is a town and not a City. Nevertheless this is my entry. Follow this link to see more one colour photos taken by other CDP bloggers. Well done to them … http://cdpbthemeday.blogspot.com.au/

Tired
The theme of the City Daily Photo for February 1st is ‘Tired’. This runner is one of the Abingdon Marathon runners portrayed on the Stratton Way underpass mural. He has stopped for a drink, and the others have left him behind. I wonder whether that drink of H2O will help him carry on and complete the marathon, or whether he is thinking ‘OK! There are still twenty four-plus miles to go. Next year, I will do some training!!!’

Photographing the Photographer
Jazz attracts photographers and the Abingdon Jazz festival in the Abbey Buildings was no exception. One of the musicians – the cool cat in the shades, looks on as three photographers enjoy the jazz through the camera lens.
The theme on September 1 for City Daily Photo bloggers is “Photographing the Photographer.”

Mr Hemmings Day of Dance 2017
Mr Hemmings Day of Dance has been moved to July 1st this year. The original date in May, nearest the birthday of Mr Tom Hemmings, is a very busy time for Morris Dancing.
Another innovation this year was a change to the constitution of Mr Hemmings Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers to allow female dancers.
They were joined by two guest teams this year. There were the Garston Gallopers, a mixed Morris dancing side based in East Garston in West Berkshire – on the other side of the the Ridgeway.
The third team, Ashnah, are American Tribal Style bellydancers from Abingdon.
The City Daily Photo’s theme for July 1st is Motion, which on Mr Hemmings Day of Dance took many forms, from the choreographed steps and gallops and handkerchief flicks of Morris Dancing, to the enigmatic hand ballet and twirling swirling costumes of Ashnah.
