The Abingdon Supermarket opened last year but closed for a while towards the end of the year. They left a note saying they’d be back mid December. They brought in more stock as if they were planning to reopen, but I haven’t seen that happen.
There’s a sign that says ‘Lease For Sale: Takeaway & Shop (With all Stock and Assets).’ It seems like they had to give up for some reason. So that’s sad.
The covers are up at the old Seeneys shop in Coxeters Yard. A new store is moving in, and they’ve applied for a license to sell alcohol. It will sell food and drinks, and it seems to be run by the same people who ran Abbey Fresh Foods, which closed last year.
Next door, there is a Juice Bar that has been set up for a while but hasn’t opened yet.
The nearby pet food shop is promoting the RSPB Birdwatch Weekend. They have discounts on birdseed and accessories to help people do better when they take part in the world’s biggest garden wildlife survey.
A well known Lebanese Restaurant in Abingdon has relocated from Bath Street to 15 High Street, the location of a well known Coffee Bar in Abingdon.
The two businesses are now sharing the premises, with the restaurant occupying the space in the evenings, Monday to Saturday.
The move has seen the restaurant renamed ‘wine bar’, and offering more drinks alongside the restaurant menu. The new location provides a larger space for people to enjoy their Lebanese cuisine. Presumably they are also sharing the bill for running the place.

A beauty salon has opened in its new location on West St Helen Street, marking a fresh start for the new year, having been for many years in Stert Street. They also have a salon in Boars Hill.
The salon now occupies a Grade II listed building that once served as a mortgage advisor’s office. The relocation was delayed by the need to get planning approval for the change of use and to carry out necessary alterations, such as installing stud walls to create treatment rooms.
