Once the politicians were out, Abingdon Flower Club took over the shop, and were busy arranging flowers as 1st May is National Flower Arranging Day. The displays will be left up in the window over the bank holiday weekend.

Revolution

Revolution
Mike Foster is standing for election as our next Member of Parliament on May 7th and is the only candidate offering a revolutionary alternative to the existing capitalist system.

He says “Capitalist Society leads to stress and alienation where people are struggling in poverty or debts while the economy advantages the very rich. The alternative is for the community to democratically manage it’s resources and environment – replace the capitalist system entirely with one where production is centred on meeting peoples needs and wants rather than generating profit for the owners of capital.”

Green Party Bus in the Vineyard

Green Party Bus
Thanks to Sally for a picture of the Green Party Campaign Bus in Abingdon today.
Green Party Bus
I believe that is the 4th party bus to come to Abingdon during the campaign.

Tim sent me an image of the green party leaflet posted through his front door yesterday morning. Spot the error.
Vineyard
When I get petrol in the Vineyard there is a similar – but different – error.

UKIP Shop four weeks on

UKIP pop-up shop
About 4 weeks ago UKIP opened their Oxfordshire Campaign HQ in East St Helen Street, Abingdon-on-Thames. It was rumored that their charismatic leader, Nigel Farage, would be there for the opening, but another MEP (Member of European Parliament) did the honours.
UKIP pop-up shop
I have been by the shop many times since.

There are 2 balloons, slowly deflating, out the back, but I have not seen any campaigning activity.
