One of the new town maps has appeared at Rye Farm Car Park. On the left it features pictures, by Scooter Mckenzie, of well known buildings in Abingdon, with descriptions.

In this new series of maps, each map will have a different centre depending on where it is located.

Meanwhile, the map board near the Market Place has turned into a noticeboard and has just a mini map for now. A central What’s On noticeboard is much needed in Abingdon.

I see from it that Comedy Abingdon have their second event – an improvised comedy evening – Saturday at 19:30 at the Guildhall – featuring Abingdon’s own Kevin Tomlinson and friends.

My wife has not had a camera for quite some time, but bought one a couple of weeks ago. Since then she has been taking pictures – mostly of ripples. This is how they look on her facebook album ‘watery stuff’.

We met somebody on the Market Place today who said to my wife “You must be his other half”

That was a bit rude really. Still to a lot of people I am her other half.

Thanks to her for the ripples. Last one is light from ripples playing on the underside of Abingdon Bridge.

Mostly Books have been there five years and today Mark and Nikki were serving champagne and cakes to anybody visiting the shop. They first opened on Saturday, July 1st 2006. That first day is recorded for posterity under the title Better than we could have wished for on the Mostly Books Blog.

Circus Ginnett have set up the big top in the Ladygrove Meadow and will have shows from 1st to 5th July.
