Rev’d Richard Bittleston, was formally made the new Minister at Trinity Church yesterday in a special service. He was presented, by Trinity, with a stole in Abingdon Green.

A coach load of friends from his old home, near Woking, came to wish him well, together with many people from Abingdon – including the Mayor, and Chair of the Vale.

At the weekend, cream teas were served, in the back yard of Twitty’s, to raise money for Abingdon Community Hospital.

There was also a raffle, drawn by the Chair of the Vale of White Horse District Council.

I’ve just been to the web site of the company that owns this lorry. They recycle lamps. It says ‘Did you know…

That the mercury from just one fluorescent tube can pollute 30,000 litres of water beyond a safe level for drinking? … Makes you think!’

So I guess we had better be a bit careful in days to come after the recycling lorry shed and smashed hundreds of fluorescent tubes all over the Vineyard.

Love Parks Week runs from 14th – 22nd June. Maybe it is more of a city event than a Market Town event.

The monument to Prince Albert would not look out of place in the centre of a great city park. Abingdon once had aspirations of grandeur.
