Ward 1 and St Nics School – comparison

The latest newsletter from the Abingdon based architects West Waddy ADP is a history of  some of the buildings they have been involved with. As an example …
Number 60
St Nicolas school – formerly Boxhill Church of England School –
Number 60
and Ward 1 of Abindon Community hospital were both designed by them about 1930. I am sure they both looked equally elegant when first built.

Interesting reading the West Waddy newsletter,
but shame that they spelt the name of St Nicolas School incorrect.
    Common error adding a ‘h’

Every time I google St. Nicolas it asks me whether I meant “St. Nicholas”. I think we’re almost unique in this spelling. It really is a beautiful original school building with a tiny staircase leading right up into the tower that you can see at the front. Children not permitted! (I think it’s a bolt-hole for exhausted teachers)

St Nicolas is such a lovely school, filled with charming, kind children! i would reccomend it to anyone. it particuly nurtures children with learning issues. And offers a range of cultures and religions accross the school.
They have looked after my children for 6 years and i am very sad to say goodbye.
