The organisers of Make Music Abingdon have set up music workshops and lots of other events this coming Friday. Visit the Make Music Abingdon facebook page for the full number of events.
This is part of a world celebration of music on Friday 21st June. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 120 countries, and Abingdon is making the most of the day with something for everybody.
You can book for free workshops including a top class percussionist at the library, ukelele at the Guildhall, and violin at the Guildhall. Then as many people as possible are needed for the Singing Human Chain on the Market Place at 6:10.
I wonder if anyone is able to tell me who has paid for the Rainbow Flag flying over the Market Square?!
I would imagine the same people as pay for all the other flags flown there.
What does it matter whom paid for this rainbow flag’it has a right to be flown as any other flag.
Hester…are you saying we the council tax payers are footing the bill???????
There are lots of flags paid for by us all as council tax payers. Above various civic buildings, plus on the lamp posts etc around town. Is your objection to flags on general or this one specifically? I thought it looked rather good.
The cost of buying/repairing a flag is pretty minimal. The cost if the flagpole is much larger.
I have no objection whatsoever to GaY people but i strongly object to marching and Flags…I am heterosexual i do not need to march or have a Flag…yes i would strongly object if my council tax was used for this flag..any other flag no objection!!
re my previous message money would be better spend on a roads and pavement washer as they are filthy..i also think cafe owners who have outside seating should be made to clean their frontage…high street is disgusting!!
We disagree about the Rainbow flag then Lady. I think it’s a nice sign that we as a community are united with many other towns and cities in demonstrating pride in all members of our community regardless of race, sex, creed or sexuality.
Who is “the We”??????????
You and I = we
Ie you and I disagree
i can assure you i am a committed Christian with no colour bias whatsoever ,,i welcome all into my home also homosexuals..as i have told you NO FLAGS OR MARCHES FOR ME OK!!
i understand what you have said.
I disagree with you.
No need for the capitals or extra punctuation- it doesnt add to your argument.
