A new public toilet has been built next to Hales Meadow car park in Abingdon. It has a more traditional look than the previous
toilets that were removed from the same site last year.
The toilet includes two touch-free sink areas, a baby changing cradle, mirrors, an automated cleaning system, and plenty of room to allow it to be used easily by people with disabilities. It costs just 10p to use, and for that you get up to fifteen minutes.
Mmmm a bit bog standard I must say
New toilets in these deficit days? Somebody must be flush with money.
More money down the pan.
£54K to be precise!!!!!
Some bloggers just whinge and whine about everything. Those of us who need to use facilities like these are delighted at the new toilets.
Public toilets are a pretty basic service that any town should have enough of. If we want to encourage people to visit the town it’s a necessity.
Did Abingdon get the new toilets in loo of the promised restaurants in the Old Gaol development?
The old toilets were dreadful. I used the one in West St Helen’s Street car park. It was a metal seat and the whole of the toilet was swimming in water and toilet paper. The new one looks 100% better. Incidentally to save money the Isle of Wight was going to close all the public toilets and were asking for volunteers to allow tourists to use their home loos!! I wonder if they got many replies.
So any people pass through Abingdon in boats on the water and the old toilets must have given them a really bad first impression of the place.
This new toilet is going to give them a totally different impression which can be no bad thing.
Eek! I meant to say “So MANY people” not just any, sorry
10p is too cheap, it should be £1 to deter yobs.
15 minutes for 10pee. Do I detect a sub-letting business opportunity here ?
What happens when your time is up. Do you get locked in ?
Spike, it already has toi-let signs on it!
Please deposit 10p for the next 15 minutes please!!!!!
or the door opens……
The old Tardis Toilets, unlocked the door..at least it did when I used one last!!!
A public Toilet is essential
An excellent facility for Abingdon to have. All the public loos should be well signposted in the market place.
There should be one in the new Old Goal development.
I thought the line was:
“and the operator said 40 cents more
For the next three minutes pleeeeeeeeeease”
This toilet is so dangerous.
My wife got locked in it and had to be let out by the fire service.
If it had been some one on there own and in a wheelchair thay would have had no chance.
Although the emergence door release is in place some stupid person decided to fit it on the ceiling but it is not a pull cord just a small red pull knob.
The help contact number was as much help as a chocolate fire gard.
These toilet pods are dangerous and don’t even have an emergency phone in side. What’s more the lights didn’t come on when she when.
Thanks Oxfordshire fire and rescue, good job
