The New Year’s Day Boundary Walk was planned for 11.30am this morning.
About twenty people braved the pouring rain, and were gathered at 11:30am. But after some discussion, sanity rather than valor prevailed and it was decided to postpone the official walk.
That did not stop small groups of individuals walking round the 1556 Abingdon bounds.
Without the Town Crier, and the usual educational commentary, they got round in half the usual time, and then went to dry off.
I am pleased to say that Abingdon AC managed our new year run up to the top of the Wittenham Clumps in the rain, which managed to be extra stingy for the run up the clumps itself.
I raced my brother to the top of the clumps a few years back – felt half dead by the end.
I can feel less guilty now I know it was cancelled. I was still in bed at 11:30. And not because of new year excesses. 🙂
Anyone know when its due to be rescheduled? have done it a few times before but always nice to go for a walk.
I thought I had missed them as they always stop outside our house for some commentary.
Couldn’t find any notice of this on Council Website
It’s the first item on the home page in the latest news section 🙂
