Good Work goes unnoticed

Two Contractors
A couple of years ago when the new pavements were first laid a utility contractor came and did some work. They then covered up the hole with tarmac, and left it like that to this day.

Because it happened once I half expect it to happen again.

Last weekend their was a leak near the Market Place. It had been there for maybe three weeks.
Two Contractors
On Monday some contractors fixed the leak but left a lump of tarmac where there had been cobbles.
Two Contractors
A second gang came today to complete the job.

Most jobs do get completed well and properly and don’t need chasing.

Moral of the Story : Good work goes largely unnoticed.

Investment in the Crown and Thistle

A story appeared in the Caterer and Innkeeper a couple of days ago …
More Investment
“Oakman Inns and Restaurants has bought the freehold of the Crown and Thistle in Abingdon-on-Thames and it is due to close in January for a £1.4m refurbishment.

Oakman will completely overhaul the bar and restaurant areas to create a modern pub comprising a restaurant and two bars, as well as 19 bedrooms.”

This is in addition to the development of the Nags Head Inn, the Old Post Office Inn or however Weatherspoons re-name the business, and the new restaurants in the Old Gaol.
