Lighting Engineers at The County Hall this evening

County Hall Museum
During the daylight an artist was seen working on a number of charcoal sketches.

When evening arrived a group of lighting engineers took over. Watched by the museum curator, the architect and project team from Ridge and Partners, the lighting engineers tried out various positions under the County Hall …

Nothing too fancy. Just up lights trying to arrive at the best way of  showing the museum exterior and undercroft at night.

All part of the impending closure and redevelopment project.

The museum curator apologised that the museum could not play such a big role in Heritage Day this year but the closure is now so close.

There are rich pickings for pigeons in Abingdon

Pigeon Pictures
This pigeon is in the Margaret Brown Gardens. It is just checking whether to fly away from that human being with the camera or wheel around for more rich pickings.
Pigeon Pictures
This pigeon is on the other side of the Thames. It’s a wonder it can fly carrying all that weight.
Pigeon Pictures
This pigeon was seen near the River Ock next to a bird that has to hunt and catch its own food.

Co-op Now Open Until 11pm

Now Open Until 11pm
The extension of hours from 10pm to 11pm at the Co-op is not directly related to the imminent opening of the SPAR nearby. The Co-op were already in negotiations with staff about a 11pm closing time before Bargain Booze shut down. It is one thing going home at 10pm, and quite another going home at 11pm, and the Co-op had to get staff to agree first.

Welcome to Thrupp Lake

Thrupp Lane
Beside Thrupp Lane the fields have been harvested and there is a large haystack.
Thrupp Lake
Posters by Thrupp Lake tell of the future it can expect now the Northmoor Trust is in control:

  • A shelter is being built
  • Japanese Knotweed is being eradicated
  • A circular walk round Thrupp Lake will be created
  • The Sandles Building will be demolished and replaced with a visitor centre

Thrupp Lake
The shelter can be seen across the water with the bricked up Sandles building behind.

A very interesting construction. For more about Thrupp from earliest human habitation until the village of Thrupp went into decline after the 14th Century visit the AAAHs site.
